The city
Cambridge is a historic university city in the east of England, best known for its colleges, its chapels and the River Cam winding through the middle of it. The centre is compact: college courts, museums, independent shops and the market sit within a short walk of one another.
Beyond the historic core there are commons and green spaces, a botanic garden, riverside paths and residential neighbourhoods with their own cafés and shops. The city is also a working place — research, technology, healthcare and professional services bring people here for a week, a month or longer.
